What is Alice In Borderland Season 2 about?
Season 2 picks up right where the previous one left off. Arisu and the group are alone in Shibuya Square until blimps start flying overhead. It doesn’t take long for the next wave of games to ensue, as the King of Spades attacks. While trying to escape his wrath, the gang try to find a way to escape the game world while simultaneously making sure their Visa’s don’t run out. The only solution is to compete in the games again, but this time the group are fractured and find themselves separated as the season progresses. All of this collides into a dramatic couple of episodes to round the season out, where big questions are answered and the fate of our characters finally revealed. Has Alice In Borderland been renewed for season 3?
At the time of writing, Alice In Borderland has not been renewed for a third season. Given the nature of the show’s content, that could well change if it does good numbers for Netflix. Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future. So far, Alice In Borderland has had an excellent reaction from audiences and critics alike, with most commenting on how good the games are and how action-packed these 8 episodes have been. Given the way this show is set up, and how pitch-perfect that ending was, we’re actually hoping that this will not be renewed for a third season. As much as we’re huge fans of the series here, the ending doesn’t need a follow-up, despite the manga continuing with Alice In Borderland: Retry. This is one of the rare occasions where a renewal is probably not advised but until we get definitive confirmation, we’re holding out hope that the excellent finale will be the last memory of this Japanese series. What we know about season 3 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 3 at this point, given Netflix have not green-lit a sequel. However, we could see our characters return for a follow-up, potentially adapting Alice in Borderland: Retry or even following a completely different set of characters. As mentioned above, we predict that this will not be renewed but we’ll have to wait and see what happens. We’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though!
