If you’ve been following this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Well, wonder no more! Here’s what we know about a renewal:
What is Cheer Up Season 1 about?
Cheer Up is another sport drama that has a great blend of romance, drama and thrills. The story centers on Do Hae-Yi, a student at Yonhee University. She’s bright and diligent but because of her family’s dire financial situation, she’s forced to place her priority into making money rather than her education. However, everything changes when Hae-Yi joins the cheering squad, Theia. She only joins for money but soon finds herself becoming engrossed in the tight-knit group dynamic. Among them is Bae Young-Woong who was once a member, who now supports the cheering squad financially and emotionally.
Has Cheer Up been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, SBS have not renewed Cheer Up for season 2. Given the ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up. The ratings began with a 2.3% share nationwide but since then, the show has been pretty steady with the trend eking upwards to around 3 and 4% averagely. Given that most Korean dramas only run for a single season, and the ratings aren’t lighting the early week schedule up, we predict Cheer Up will not be renewed. We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available though.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Most Korean dramas are reserved to one season, as detailed above, and with the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed. However, there is always the possibility that the actors return for a follow-up for a sequel or a spin-off featuring the same characters. But based on everything we’ve seen, we don’t think Cheer Up will be renewed. We generally aim to update this page when more information becomes available.
