Renewed Or Cancelled?
Despite a bit of a rocky start, Shooting Stars has established itself as a fun weekend rom-com, even if it’s not quite doing the numbers in Korea. This 16 episode k-drama has been a real rollercoaster ride over the weeks and you may be wondering if this one has been renewed or cancelled.
What is Shooting Stars Season 1 about?
Shooting Stars is the latest drama to drop into a very crowded weekend line-up of K-drama content. This romantic drama has come under scrutiny recently for its depiction of Africa but it has managed to weather the storm and come out swinging. The premise though (for those still sticking with this one!) whisks us into the entertainment world, where employees work around the clock to try and clean up the messes created by stars. Oh Han-Byul (Lee Sung-Kyung) is the head of the agency’s PR team. Her top client, Gong Tae-Sung (Kim Young-Dae)can do no wrong. The pair happen to have been in high school and college together, where he became Han-Byul’s sworn enemy However, despite bickering about everything together, it would seem that these two are on a path to turn from enemies to lovers.
Has Shooting Stars been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, tvN has not renewed Shooting Stars for season 2. Given the respectable ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up. The ratings began with a small 1.6% nationwide and has been pretty steady over the weeks, flat-lining at around 1.4%. Given this is a weekend k drama up against stiff competition, that’s hardly surprising. Based on this, coupled with how most k-dramas wrap up their stories in a single season – we predict that Shooting Stars will not be renewed for a follow-up. We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Most Korean dramas are reserved to one season and with the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed. However, there is always the possibility that the actors return for a follow-up or even a spin-off ala. the Reply series. We’ll have to wait and see if this one’s greenlit or not. For now though, we’re under the impression that there will not be a season 2 but we generally will aim to update this page when more information becomes available.
