What is The Rehearsal about?
The Rehearsal is a rare genre blend. Though marketed as a reality series and full of what feels like authentic reactions, the “Nathan Fielder” of the show often feels like a character of Fielder’s own design. The show follows Fielder as he attempts a huge project: to help people prepare for major events in their lives by recreating exact, real-life circumstances in which they can practice. Fielder goes on to build replicas of restaurants and houses, as well as hire professional actors to make his simulations as perfect as they can be. But can we truly be prepared for any situation? That’s what Fielder wants to find out. We have ongoing coverage of The Rehearsal across the site, including episode recaps. You can check those out HERE.
Has The Rehearsal been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, The Rehearsal has been renewed officially for season 2. Given the recent announcement of HBO Max’s future merger with Discovery+, the longevity of several HBO Max originals has been called into question (Made for Love, Close Enough, Raised By Wolves, and The Time Traveler’s Wife were all recently canceled). Fortunately for fans of The Rehearsal, Nathan Fielder’s show is safe–both as an HBO Original and as a hit with critics and audiences alike–to secure it a well-earned sequel. We’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given that HBO just announced the renewal. EVP of HBO Programming Amy Gravitt said in a statement, “We have no idea where Season 2 will take us.” However, given the increasing complexity of Season 1, we should be able to expect even more complicated layers to Fielder’s rehearsals, as well as deeper insight into Fielder himself. We’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though! Are you happy to see The Rehearsal return for a second season? Or do you think the show has run its course?
