A Fun Family Flick Arlo the Alligator Boy is a fun family flick packed full of great music and some colourful animation. Despite a very simple story we’ve seen a million times before, Arlo sings and dances his way through this 90 minute feature to great effect. The story here wastes absolutely no time, setting the tone immediately for the movie to follow. Within this, a young humanoid alligator floats down a river, away from New York and straight into the swamps....

Stranded Episode 6 of Around the World in 80 Days begins with Fogg, Passepartout and Abigail forced into a rowing boat and exiled from their vessel. To make matters worse, a storm is closing in. As Day 47 of this expedition arrives, our trio all wash up on shore, sputtering water and exhausted – but very much alive. Fogg deduces that they may well be in south-east Asia somewhere – potentially Japan....

A Nostalgic Blast From The Past Astro Bot Rescue Mission remains one of the best VR experiences on Playstation 4. The simple but effective platforming worked perfectly with the controller and headset to create an incredibly immersive experience. It also brought with it another unlikely Sony mascot in the form of a lovable bot named Astro. Back for a distinctly less VR-ey experience, SIE Japan Studio return with a 2-5 hour platforming title in Astro’s Playroom....

The Boy and the Pine Cone Episode 1 of Atiye (The Gift) Season 3 starts with Erhan and Atiye together, still trying to find their daughter Aden. Cut just before this however, is an ominous sequence involving a boy out in the woods with a pine cone. Hold that thought because we’ll be returning to him shortly! In the morning, Atiye symbolically lets the note holding her wish go. She watches as it falls lazily down the stream while Erhan leaves....

Countdown Episode 4 of Atiye (The Gift) Season 3 starts with Aden back with Atiye and Erhan. She’s distant though, refusing to engage with the family. Eventually though Atiye holds her hand, prompting a gust of wind to pick up. A tree branch falls and almost hits Atiye, but Erhan manages to move her at the last second before she receives a nasty scratch to the face. Honestly guys, this tree branch is tiny....

Boiling Point Steering away from the comedy and romance, episode 10 of Backstreet Rookie doubles down on the melodrama in the best possible way. With bubbling tensions simmering up to boiling point, this Korean drama delivers a really strong episode. Whether it’s enough to push this out of mediocrity remains to be seen but there’s certainly some promising signs ahead. Instead of taking her home, Seung-Joo decides Yeon-Joo needs to go out for drinks....

Instinct As we soon learn early on via a flashback, despite Haru’s small stature, she’s actually hooked up with quite a few different animals around school and clearly has a gift for being a bit of a predator. The irony of course, being how big of a prey she really is. Episode 3 of Beastars begins with Legoshi bolting away as Haru starts to seduce him and eventually calls him a weirdo after he covers her up with a towel....

Father-In-Law The rivalry between Tae-Rang and Jin-Woo is now in full swing and this latest episode brings us some very tense moments between the two. Jin-Woo will stop at nothing to get what he wants and now has another tool at his disposal now that he knows about Cheong-Ah and Joon-Hwi. Many plots fall short of creating a compelling antagonist because they fail to assemble the essential elements. Weak antagonists typically lack motivation, and intensity, and are simply evil or malicious. These storylines prove inadequate because they don’t give the audience a chance to experience an internal struggle that would test their belief systems. If an antagonist is presented as simply evil for no apparent reason, the audience is left with very little to consider, which harms the narrative’s quality, making it stereotypical and oversimplified....

Suspicions We begin episode 10 of Beyond Evil in December 2020. We’re in Busan as Joo-Won visits Kwon Hyeok. He tells Joo-Won he won’t be able to win against Dong-Sik, especially given how smart he is, and offers to take over for him. Joo-Won however, rejects this and instead decides he’ll just have to be reborn. Heading down to the docks, he notices Jae-Yi cutting fish. However, Chief Nam arrives trying to find her....
