School’s Out While we reel over the events that took place in the last episode, we return to Black Summer with Rose and the others reaching a school. Upon entering, they split up and search for supplies, creeping through the eerily silent corridors. After some deliberation, they find refuge upstairs for the night and hide out in the music room. At this point, we find out Ryan is deaf and mute, unable to hear the noises the others hear coming from above them....

Naturally, given this is a horror series, she heads down alone to reveal a pitch black room. Inside is a single couch and a severed eyeball. That couch suddenly changes to a faceless woman though, who starts whispering. Lisa scrambles for the ladder and hurries up to safety. Meanwhile, the incident with Jules has caused havoc for Lou....

Ha-ri goes on a blind date in Young-seo’s stead to try and scare off her suitor. But he turns out to be Ha-ri’s boss, Kang Tae-moo (Ahn Hyo-seop). When Tae-moo wants to keep dating the fake Young-seo, Ha-ri has to come up with a way to keep up the facade and keep her job....

A Morality Lesson Episode 3 of Castlevania sees Sypha and Belmont contemplate what to do next following their skirmish over the creatures during the opening chapter. They bond over the fun they’ve had but now that they’ve slowed down, contemplate whether to get back on the road and back to something less boring. The male chokes the female and she struggles to breathe. This opener paves way for a young woman called Miu invited into the home of Rosella, who happens to be accompanied by a whole rabble of women. They fuss over her and continue to touch her....

The Black Lake Netflix could be onto something special here. From the first episode alone, this Italian Netflix series manages to combine teen drama with supernatural and mystery elements beautifully, feeling like a medley of influences drawn from other sources but combined into something that feels wholly fresh and exciting. There’s elements of The Shining, Dark and a plethora of horror films that make for a really fascinating and utterly engrossing watching....

Unstable I mentioned last time about Dare Me’s similarities to HBO’s Euphoria and this week the show solidifies this further with an abundance of stylistic shots including zooms, slow-mo segments and monologues. It’s not a deal breaker but with a reasonably slow-paced slice of drama this week, it does become more noticable. Episode 2 of Dare Me begins with Colette overseeing another gruelling training session before telling the girls to go home, except Addy and Beth though who join Colette in her office where she offers them both a cigarette....

Dark comedy is high on ambition, low on ideas The problem with films made on social issues in the Hindi film industry (more popularly called Bollywood), is their lack of sincerity. Not in tackling the issue, but integrating it with an interesting narrative. More often than not, the story fails to hold you beyond the mechanics of its social significance. Another characteristic is the lack of discomfort you feel as a viewer....
