The video that follows shows the family being interviewed by Opal. They explain that they got trapped after their door got locked. In absence of any kind of online access, the family started reconnecting with each other – ultimately realizing that online presence is merely an escape from the real world, not the way to live. In the end, it’s revealed that it was George R. R. Martin who was watching the videos.

The latest Simpsons episode is an ultimate satire on the modern society. The episode doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, but the climax scene adds it all up. Whether it can be classified as a funny plot is questionable, but it certainly is a meaningful and thought provoking watch. The Simpsons’s episodes this season might not have been awfully entertaining, but they definitely have been out of the box. The latest one is no exception.
