If you have seen the movie and, like me, actually enjoyed this new comedy, you might be interested in a sequel. But will there be a Me Time 2? Here’s what we know:
What is Me Time about?
Netflix’s new movie stars Kevin Hart as Sonny, a stay-at-home dad who is given the opportunity to escape domestic life for a few days when his old friend Huck (Mark Wahlberg) invites him to his birthday celebrations. Unfortunately, this is one birthday party that doesn’t involve cake, candles, or traditional gift-giving. Instead, Sonny is whisked off to the desert on a mad weekend away with his party-loving friend where a mountain lion becomes just the first of the many problems that the beleaguered father has to contend with. Loan sharks, a love rival, and an injured tortoise are just a few of the other things that threaten to spoil Sonny’s attempts to unwind with his friend.
Will there be a Me Time 2?
Despite the bad reviews, Me Time has been a big hit with Netflix viewers. As such, a sequel seems likely but at the time of writing, Me Time 2 has not been officially confirmed. Hart and Wahlberg play well off each other so there is certainly scope for another movie with the two actors. Regina Hall, who stars as Hart’s wife in the movie, makes an impact with the limited screen time that she has too. It would be fun to see the three of them in a follow-up movie but until we get official word, all we can do is wait for the heads at Netflix to make a decision about a potential sequel.
What could Me Time 2 be about?
At the end of the first movie, Huck talks to Sonny about starting a kids’ birthday party business. Seeing the two of them throw a party for kids could offer up comedy gold so this could be the premise for the sequel. An alternative would be another crazy weekend away with the two friends. They could get into all kinds of misadventures together, perhaps in a jungle or island resort setting, with the usual comedy hijinks and messages about friendship that the first movie included. This is just speculation as, with no official confirmation, all we can do is guess about the premise of Me Time 2 at this stage.
Who could be in Me Time 2?
Kevin Hart, Mark Wahlberg, and Regina Hall will hopefully return if the movie is given the green light. It is likely that Jimmy O. Yang, the talented comedy actor who stars as Stan Berman, the man that Huck owes money to in the first movie, will make a re-appearance too.
When could Me Time 2 be released?
It’s hard to say at this point as there has been no confirmation of a sequel. If a follow-up movie is given the green light, we don’t expect to see it before 2024 as both Hart and Wahlberg are attached to several other movies that are currently in the pre-production stage.
